Sold for: £5
A collection of a salt-glazed stoneware jug, decorative feathers and a glass watering bulb. The stoneware storage vessel features an ovoid body, a wide neck with a flared rim, and a single strap handle connecting the rim to the shoulder. It is finished in a matte, reddish-brown salt glaze with two parallel horizontal bands incised around the shoulder. The top of the handle is impressed with the numeral 5, possibly indicating a five-gallon capacity. The lot includes a blown-glass plant watering bulb, or aqua globe, featuring a mottled pattern of red, white and light blue, as well as an assortment of decorative peacock and pheasant tail feathers.
Condition report:
The stoneware jug shows general signs of age and use, including dark spotting and staining, particularly towards the lower half of the body (photo 2). Small nicks and areas of wear are visible around the rim and base edge (photo 3). There are no significant cracks or structural repairs visible in the provided images. The glass watering bulb and feathers appear to be in good decorative order (photo 4).
