Start price: £8

Estimated price: £8 - £20

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £30

A collection of four vintage tooled and embossed leather bags. The group includes a tan leather saddle-style bag featuring hand-tooled decoration including a central sun face motif, concentric geometric bands, and Greek key patterns, finished with leather whipstitching to the edges. A large dark brown leather tote is centrally embossed with a diamond-shaped panel of foliate scrollwork and is lined with brown synthetic fabric, including a magnetic snap closure and an internal zippered pocket. Also included is a dark brown textured leather shoulder bag, possibly made of eel skin, featuring an embossed logo of two interlocking rounded rectangles to the flap and a matching mustard-coloured printed fabric lining with an integrated framed mirror. The collection is completed by a tall brown leather cross-body bag with six raised vertical stitched ribs and a leather tab-and-loop closure. No manufacturer names are legible on any of the items.

Condition report:

The saddle bag shows surface scuffs and darkening to the leather consistent with age and use (photo 2) with minor wear to the whipstitched edges (photo 3). The brown tote is in good vintage condition with light creasing to the body and wear to the handles (photo 5). The textured shoulder bag exhibits natural surface variations to the leather and light creasing from use (photo 8). The ribbed satchel shows significant surface character with various scuffs, scratches, and rubbing to the finish, particularly on the front and back panels (photo 9 and 10).
