A Victorian style 9ct gold ring weighing approximately 1.85 grams. The band is constructed of yellow gold and features a central oval-shaped “gypsy” style panel with a single inset colourless gemstone, possibly a diamond or white sapphire. The inner shank bears a series of hallmarks including the “375” mark for 9 carat gold fineness, an anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office, and a lowercase date letter “g” in a shaped shield, which corresponds to the year 1906. There is also a maker’s mark reading “E.S&Co”. The ring shows a slight tapering towards the shoulders and general surface wear consistent with its age.
Condition report:
The ring exhibits surface scratching and minor indentations to the gold throughout the band and central setting. The gemstone shows some surface dullness and wear to the facets. The gemstone has not been tested for authenticity or clarity.
