A collection of costume jewellery and assorted accessories, primarily in mid-century cocktail and Hollywood Regency styles. The group features silver-tone and gold-tone base metal pieces decorated with faceted glass, rhinestones, and aurora borealis coated beads. Notable items include a silver-tone necklace set with clear and aquamarine-coloured glass rhinestones in a blue-lined presentation case, and a tiara-style fringe necklace featuring baguette and chaton-cut clear rhinestones in a dark blue-lined case. Also present is a multi-strand clear rhinestone bracelet with a floral-motif clasp and a pair of matching drop earrings in a tan padded case. The lot includes a single strand of faceted aurora borealis glass beads in a red-lined case, alongside a small cross pendant and loose beads. Loose items comprise a multi-strand graduated glass bead necklace in various hues, several clear rhinestone line necklaces and bracelets, and two gold-tone collar necklaces, one featuring cream faux pearls and textured metal leaves, and the other with black enamel-style inserts and clear rhinestone accents. A small square case contains a silver-tone heart-shaped pendant on a chain and two circular button-style earrings. No maker’s marks or signatures are legible on the pieces or their cases.
Condition report:
The collection is in fair to good vintage condition. Several silver-tone pieces, particularly the clear rhinestone line necklaces, show visible surface oxidation and tarnishing (photo 1). Some yellowed and dead stones are visible in the fringe necklaces (photo 2). The faux pearls on the leaf-motif collar show minor loss of luster (photo 5). The presentation cases exhibit wear, including scuffed edges and staining to the interior fabric linings (photos 3 and 4). A small adhesive label is visible in the red case but the text is not legible (photo 4).
