A cased set of silver plated cutlery in the Art Deco Coronation pattern by Oneida. The set features tiered, reeded handles with floral-scroll motifs at the base and neck of each piece. The interior fabric lining of the lid bears a printed cursive mark reading Community followed by the block letters BY ONEIDA. This pattern was originally introduced in 1936. The collection is housed in a wooden canteen featuring a dark reddish-brown finish, a hinged lid, and a recessed handle to the side. The interior is fitted with red fabric-lined partitions to secure the individual pieces. The set comprises multiple knives, dinner forks, soup spoons, dessert spoons, and two large serving pieces partially wrapped in protective paper and plastic.
Condition report:
The silver plated items show varying degrees of tarnish, particularly visible on the spoon bowls and fork tines (photo 1). The wooden canteen exhibits significant wear to the exterior finish, with notable fading and loss of varnish across the top surface (photo 2). The interior red fabric lining remains intact, showing only light impressions from the stored cutlery (photo 1).
