A Georgian style mahogany bow fronted side table constructed from solid mahogany and veneers. The table features a bow-fronted top with a decorative moulded edge and figured mahogany grain. A single long drawer follows the curve of the frame, fitted with two brass drop-ring handles on oval stamped backplates featuring a textured wicker-effect pattern. The piece is supported by four square tapered legs. The drawer interior is constructed from a lighter secondary wood, possibly pine or deal, and shows a small circular wood plug at the centre of the base. No maker marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the piece.
Condition report:
The table shows significant wear consistent with age and use. The top surface has extensive scratching, scuffing, and several dark circular stains, possibly from heat or water (photo 1 and 2). There are multiple indentations and surface marks across the polished finish (photo 3). The drawer interior is heavily stained and shows significant wear (photo 7). The interior side of the drawer front shows wood loss and splintering around the handle attachment points (photo 9). The brass hardware displays a natural dark patina and oxidation (photo 8). General scuffing and small nicks are present on the legs and frame (photo 4 and 5).
