A collection of vintage costume jewellery brooches, stick pins, and accessories presented in a three-compartment wooden display tray with a black velvet lining. The assortment includes a variety of styles and materials, featuring animal motifs, floral designs, and figurative elements. The animal-themed pieces include a large stylized black enamel cat brooch with gold-tone outlines, a smaller tuxedo cat pin, and a textured gold-tone kitten pin with small clear stones for eyes. The collection also features several gold-tone stick pins, including a novelty cat on a broomstick design, a shell-shaped terminal set with a single white faux pearl, and a pin with a light blue rhinestone flower terminal.
The right compartment contains larger floral and figurative brooches, including a tiered gold-tone sunburst design set with faux pearls, a silver-tone floral brooch pavé-set with clear rhinestones and a central faux pearl, and a curved rhinestone-set feather brooch. Also included is a small oval cameo pin featuring a white classical profile in relief against a terracotta-coloured background, set within a gold-tone frame. The lot further comprises a single gold-tone cufflink with a dark inlay, a single clip-on earring with a textured openwork design, and a bar-and-chain tie tack. The reverse of the items shows standard pin-and-safety-catch, clutch, or clip mechanisms. No maker’s marks or signatures are legible on the pieces.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition with minor surface wear and light oxidation to the gold-tone and silver-tone plating consistent with age (photos 2, 3, and 4). The enamel on the cat-themed pins appears intact with no visible chipping (photo 3). All rhinestones and faux pearls appear to be present in the larger floral and feather brooches (photo 2). The cameo shows no visible cracks or losses to the relief (photo 2). The lot includes single items (one earring and one cufflink) that are missing their pairs (photos 2 and 4). The wooden tray shows minor surface scuffs to the frame (photo 1).
