This lot comprises a disassembled Edwardian style double bed frame, including a headboard, footboard, and two side rails. The frame is constructed from mahogany or a similar dark hardwood, featuring decorative satinwood or boxwood stringing and cross-banded veneers. The headboard and footboard are designed with central rectangular solid wood panels flanked by vertical slats and horizontal rails. The horizontal rails are embellished with a repeating geometric checkerboard or dentil inlaid pattern. The vertical posts terminate in flared, square-topped finials. The width of the frames is compatible with a standard UK double mattress. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces shown in the photographs.
Condition report:
The item is currently disassembled. Visible surface scratches, scuffs, and small chips are present on the wood and veneer, particularly along the lower rails and the edges of the vertical posts (photo 1). The finish shows signs of age-related wear and fading across both main panels. There is visible white paint transfer or plaster dust on the lower sections of the posts from storage (photo 1). The structural integrity of the joints cannot be fully assessed while the item is disassembled.
