A contemporary chest of drawers constructed in a rustic or farmhouse style. This piece is built from solid knotty pine with a medium honey-toned stain and a satin finish. The carcass features a rectangular top with a thumb-moulded edge above three full-width drawers. Each drawer front is decorated with a raised rectangular bolection-style moulding and fitted with two turned wooden mushroom knobs. The interior of the drawers and the drawer bottoms are also constructed from solid pine. The back panel of the unit consists of vertical tongue-and-groove pine planks secured with nails. The chest stands on a base decorated with a scalloped apron to the front and sides. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the piece.
Condition report:
The top surface displays multiple scattered surface scratches, small indentations, and areas of finish wear, particularly visible near the front and side edges (photo 2). The front shows minor scuffs and small dings to the drawer mouldings and the scalloped base (photo 1). The drawer interiors appear generally clean with minor wear to the internal runners consistent with domestic use (photo 8). The back panel and side panels appear structurally sound with typical light wear (photo 3 and photo 7).
