Sold for: £5
A collection of framed wall art comprising textile works, papercraft, and decorative prints. The group includes a large crewelwork or wool embroidery on a linen ground depicting a floral bouquet in a blue footed vase, executed with satin and long-and-short stitches. Also present is an oval needlepoint or cross-stitch depicting a cluster of orange, purple, and yellow flowers on a white canvas. A further textile piece features a windmill in white needlework or lace mounted on a pink fabric ground. The collection includes a quilled paper work depicting a lady in a tiered pink dress with an umbrella.
Several small paintings and prints are included: two circular landscape works, one featuring a fence and yellow flowers and the other in blue tones, both with painted lavender sprigs on the mount. These two works bear a signature at the top right reading Pauline Lea. A small watercolor depicts a domed stone building, signed vertically to the right side Burrows. Completing the group are two prints: a square architectural street scene viewed through an archway and a horizontal depiction of bundled yellow flowers. The works are housed in a variety of gilt, wood-tone, and green-tinted frames.
Condition report:
The collection is in good secondary-market condition with surface dust visible on the glass and frames of all items. The large crewelwork (photo 4) shows slight rippling to the linen ground. Minor scuffs and wear consistent with age and handling are visible on the wooden and silvered frames (photos 6 and 7). No significant losses or damage to the textile or quilled elements are visible under the glass.
