Sold for: £14
A neoclassical style oval wall mirror featuring a decorative gilt finish. The frame is constructed with a molded composition or plaster layer over a wooden substrate, typical of 20th-century traditional designs. The ornamentation consists of an outer beaded course, a central band of repeating acanthus leaf or shell-like motifs, and a smaller inner beaded border adjacent to the glass. The mirror plate is set with a wide peripheral bevel, providing decorative depth. No manufacturer marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the frame or the mirror plate. The reverse of the mirror is not visible in the provided images. This lot comprises the mirror only; the domestic appliances and other items shown in the background are not included.
Condition report:
The frame shows several areas of surface damage consistent with age and material. Multiple cracks and small chips are visible in the molded decorative layer, particularly around the outer edge (photo 3). There is evidence of adhesive tape residue on the top edge of the frame (photo 1). Minor scuffs and small losses to the gilt finish are present around the circumference. The beveled mirror plate appears intact without cracks or significant silvering loss, though it displays a layer of surface dust.
